Climate Protection with Unidome
Reduce concrete consumption and avoid CO2 emissions
SUSTAINABLE BUILDING WITH UNIDOME
Today, concrete is one of the most important building materials in the world. And yet, concrete is often also referred to as the "climate killer." The production of concrete requires cement, whose production involves high energy consumption and high CO2 emissions. Worldwide cement production of more than four billion tons per year is currently associated with emissions of 2.8 billion tons of CO2. That's why at Unidome we ask ourselves why we should use more material in the construction process than necessary. Through scientific analysis of the force flows of components and the use of the resulting knowledge, we are able to develop the appropriate Unidome concrete parts for each component. This leads to material being displaced exactly where it is simply unnecessary. Up to 35% concrete consumption and up to 20% reinforcement steel can be saved this way. Reducing their weight also allows for thinner building structures. This further reduces material consumption. For example, a transport with Unidome XS-H replaces up to 48 trucks with concrete, thus avoiding up to 60 tons of CO2 emissions.
In 2021, Unidome was awarded the Small Business Award "LEADING INNOVATORS OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION" by Corporate Vision.
