  • Univ. Prof. Dr. Eng. Katharina Klemt-Albert is heading the Institute for Construction Management, Digital Construction and Robotics in Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since August 2021. Her research and teaching focuses on the digitalization and automation of the construction industry. In particular, she focuses on sustainable aspects and covers the entire life cycle of planning, construction and operation for the infrastructure and building construction.

  • Previously, Professor Klemt-Albert headed the Institute for Construction Management and Digital Construction at Leibniz University Hannover for five years. The civil engineering graduate received her doctorate in 2001 as a Dr. Eng. with distinction from Technical University of Darmstadt in cooperation with Northwestern University / USA.

  • For 14 years, Professor Klemt-Albert was in top management at Deutsche Bahn AG, most recently as managing director of an international project service provider with 1,500 employees. There, her responsibilities focused on the implementation of major large-scale projects in Germany and worldwide, with a focus on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore and China. Her personal interest is still focused on the development and implementation of technical innovations. The linking of science and practice is the focus of her activities.

  • Professor Klemt-Albert is also the founder and CEO of albert.ing GmbH, a specialized provider for digital construction and digital transformation.
